East Coast Vacations

Easy Access Vacations Year Round

Seasons change so quickly! And so do the years. 2010 all ready, and in our last home page update we talked about an unusually warm winter. Well, the last days of Dec and the first few of January sure contradicted that regardless of WHERE on the east coast  you live.. or want to vacation. The good news is that it's been great for those wanting snow skiing.  You didn't have to go very far if you were within driving distance of a hill of any kind.  Of course in New England you take it for granted and snow can be made.

But elsewhere... not so easy. But as we start 2010, plenty of east coast vacation opportunities for the snow lovers.  But if you want the ocean and water skiing.. better take out the wet suit.

But there's still time to do many things indoors, and even outdoors as the Daytona 500 will soon be upon us. Spring flower shows are great and around March as we get into the Savanah, Ga area and south, we'll see them. By the way, if you have never vacationed idn Savanah, this is a great place to visit. We even have a special page dedicated to it.

That's such a great time for at least a mini vacation and at no other season are the contrasts as vivid. From snow and skiing to surf in Fla where it's been unusually warm with 85degree days on the east coast.

But so much of our reader base and population is based more in the North East, and winter has come hard and fast, which after many years of not much snow.. this is great. Use our search feature for "New York skiing" or "New England Ski Resorts" but... don't expect to find a whole lot of bargains.

The Atlantic is getting a  bit cooler for swimming to say the least, but there's much coastal vacation fun NOT involving getting into the ocean. But you can have fun NEAR the ocean. Have you ever heard of "The Treasure Coast"? This is a part of the Fla coast from around Vero Beach to Sebastian.. and it's called this because a major Spanish treasure fleet, carrying literally tons of gold, silver, and jewels, and comprised of 5 ships, all floundered and sunk just off the coast during a storm as the fleet was headed back to Spain with all this. Just "why" they were was an intersting story. You can learn a whole lot about this af the state museum at Sebastian Inlet (admission only $1!) then you can walk the beach and maybe find your own gemstone or reals. Tip: bring a GOOD metal detector and plan this visit after a strong offshore wind or storm. Hundreds of people STILL do this every week and find treasure!

We've now added a blog to this site, but we do like to keep it updated with fresh content.. and to sorta get through this little East Coast Vacation dry spell.. we've added what might seem to be totally unrelated.. but isn't.. a page on Las Vegas! Read it to see an exceptional bargain and find out HOW a LasVegas vacation can relate. OK.. we'll continue with some of last months content..

Of course.. we invite you to log on to the blog mentioned above and leave a comment.

Now I want to share a little tip on budget vacationing. Admitedly, it's not for everyone, but there are so many nice bed and breakfasts that can be stayed in for about 30% less money than a nice hotel... and if its the same budget as a Tier B hotel/motel, you'll probably enjoy it so much more. Then for activitiy, forget all the commercial full price venues... head to the local Chamber of Commerce. So many times these places not only can point you toward what is happening, but they have discount cupons and deals not in the conventional tourist literature. You can really save.

As to your lodging, if you have never stayed at a nice vacation condo, once you do, you'll never want to go back to just a hotel other than for a room in transit. Now if you own a time share (and we do not recommend that.. or at least the purchase on the retail new market), you can rent timeshare condos many, many, many places on line. You have so much room, a nice kitchen, and usually all the amenities.

Back to the Miami area for a moment... if you want the beach and plan on swimming, thicken your blood! The water temp was only around 70Deg, but.. if you just want water and some nice beach, but don't care as much about the waves, check out the water and beaches on Biscayne Bay! It's so much more shallow and the water is warmer.

This site is here for you, and the best way to enjoy and use it is to pick a location from the left. In many cases, as your web master we've been there and the entry page shares our experience or recommendations. Other resources on the page are commercial ads, some offering discounts.

As I ramble here, my thoughts have been to convert this to a blog format. It will take some time, and we'll be transisitioning gradcually with the blog first being in it's own directory.... after .biz/blog.

We'll give you some chance for feedback then.

East Coast Vacations come in so many flavors from winter to sub tropics. I don't have to tell anyone about the New England or Aridondack Area skiing. New England ski resorts are offering bargains this year due to the economy.

Going a little further south, plan a stop in Miami and visit Vizcaya if you have not all ready done so. (http://www.vizcayamuseum.org/  ). You'll think you ended up in Italy.. and it's very inexpensive.

Then truck on down to the Keys. Key Largo is first and has some great seafood and scuba diving as well as spectacular sunsets.. and you don't have to go all the way down to Key West.. but even that and the museums, including the shipwrecks are worth it. Enjoy!

EAST COAST VACATIONS can be enjoyed year round, and we hope this web site, updated at least seasonally, will be a really great tool for you to enjoy yours!

If it's not listed to the left or above, don't waste time surfing! Find it with the search here!

An East Coast Vacation Beachwalk at Sunset

Your East Coast Vacation can span an entire generation from starting your marriage and family and enjoying east coast beaches with your kids, east coast amusement parks such as Busch Gardens at Va Beach. As your family grows and possibly your leisure, you can enjoy Myrtle Beach Golfing, or deep sea fishing, or kit flying at Kitty Hawk. History abounds as you can visit numerous lighthouses. Like to Gamble? Atlantic City Gamlbling is famous, but there's many gambling ships and cruises, many available virtually free and you can find these in Fla and other places. Quiet beaches to boardwalks and the "tourist" of Myrtle Beach are all here. Great seafood is available anywhere. New England Clam chowder to accompany Whale Watching, or you can watch dolphins in Fla. It never ends. This page has offered the experiences of the writer and his family who started their travels and vacations in the early 60s. Certainly not the ONLY place this now retired Air Force Officer and his wife have vacationed, but certainly one of the most favored that continues to be visited, and now returned to with grown children and grandchildren. Nothing quite as nice as a nice large beach house with wrap around porch that the family gathers on after a day of swimming, biking, hiking, golf, plantation visiting, historic site visiting and all the things there are to do. Put yourself in this picture! Your East Coast vacation WILL last a lifetime.
